AML Announces Partnership with Burnley Football Club in Memory of Marc Edwards

Jan 24, 2026 | News

AML is pleased to announce a new partnership with Burnley Football Club, created in memory and celebration of Marc Edwards. Developed collaboratively with the club, the initiative is designed to support disengaged children within the local Burnley community, using the power of sport and connection to make a positive and lasting impact.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the team at Burnley Football Club for their support and commitment in helping bring this project to life.

The project will be officially launched this weekend at Burnley’s home fixture against Tottenham, with a pitch-side announcement scheduled for half-time. Marking the significance of the moment, members of the Edwards family will be in attendance alongside AML’s Managing Director, and best friend, Terry Elrick, joining the club to honour Marc’s memory.

Special thanks are due to Marc’s wife, Lizzie, and children, Freya, and Cameron, whose personal contributions – including photographs and family stories – have helped shape the project and ensure it truly reflects Marc’s life, values, and connection to Burnley Football Club.

Cameron and Freya, shared a message about the importance of the project to them personally and Marc’s passion for Burnley:

“Burnley has always been a constant in our family. From Mum and Dad’s stories of travelling the country for away games, to Cameron’s first match at six months old, and even walking out as mascots together in 2016 – Burnley is part of who we are.

Our Dad’s commitment to Burnley was known by everyone around him. In 2009, when Burnley reached the play‑off final at Wembley, we had just arrived in the south of France for a family holiday.

In true Marc fashion, he simply turned around and drove all the way back so he wouldn’t miss the match. The same unwavering commitment and dedication to Burnley was shown within all aspects of Dads life.

If he wanted something, he went and did it. Whether for his family, his friends, his colleagues, or the next generation he believed in so deeply, he gave everything he had to achieve it.”

The programme will support work with disengaged young people aged 11–25, helping them overcome challenges, re‑engage with education, and build brighter futures. The Marc Edwards Legacy Project will provide:

  • Funding for additional mentoring and support
  • Personal development opportunities
  • New pathways for qualifications
  • Unforgettable experiences at Turf Moor and Whitehough
  • Celebrating young people’s achievements in the community.

This initiative represents more than a partnership; it is a collective effort made possible by the dedication and hard work of the wider AML team. Through this project, AML is proud to support a cause that will positively influence the lives of children we may never meet, while ensuring Marc’s legacy continues to make a difference.

Marc was known for his unwavering positivity and his instinctive ability to invest in people at all levels. His influence continues to shape AML today, and the creation of this project ensures that his commitment to helping others will inspire future generations.

“Marc was someone who only looked forward in the most positive way, always willing to invest in people,” Terry Elrick, said. “The opportunity to continue supporting young people in his name will give his family and all at AML great pleasure.”

Should the project prove successful, there is a strong intention for AML to extend the partnership into future years.

Thank you to all our staff and everyone involved with the project.
