Sustainability & Ethics

ONE WORLD
ONE VISION

Our Sustainability Vision reflects the collective contribution that our people, products, and supply chain can make to help address climate change, improve our energy consumption, and enhance resource management.

Consumers today demand transparency, honesty, and tangible global impact from companies. They can choose from a raft of sustainable, competitively priced, high-quality products. We understand that our clients want to work with partners committed to sustainability and high environmental standards. They must feel comforted and supported by how we tackle the environmental challenges of the modern world. We believe that good leadership of our people, resources, environment, and communities makes ethical business sense. That is why our aim is to lead on sustainability when delivering our branded environments.

MATERIAL SOURCING

All of our furniture materials are FSC accredited. Our material suppliers and main distributors provide wood products which are manufactured from sustainably sourced methods that are
traceable.

These processes are as follows:
Part of the sawmilling process provides core wood fibre, which is used in the manufacture of the finished product.

This includes:

  • Hackchips (for core layer)
  • Sawdust used to create a smooth and clean finish
  • Slabwood – is chipped and then directed through the hackchip route to be used as core layer.
  • Recycled wood fibre grade A & B recycled wood is sourced from both commercial wood waste and civic amenity sites

“END-TO-END” SUSTAINABILITY

“Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

Sustainability is not only about our effective use of materials and resources, but also our ability to adopt into our end-to-end processes. We all need to understand and appreciate the complete life cycle of any products that we develop. We therefore endeavour to work collaboratively with our clients, to understand the expected lifespan and use materials accordingly, with an eye on the future to ensure that product can be effectively recycled

LONGER-TERM GOALS

We are developing a long-term sustainability strategy with an ambition to become a Net Zero organisation in the future. Every part of our organisation has a role to play in this.

To achieve this, we have set actions and targets, including:

  • Company vehicles to be electric by 2025.
  • Have vehicle charging points at all of our locations by 2030.
  • Eliminate all single-use plastic.
  • Having a more diverse workforce from the local community, measured as a percentage of employment.
  • Encouragement of employee volunteering through partnerships with local charities.
  • We are currently investigating heating the factories with our own timber waste product to future-proof our production sites.
  • We have an internal CO2 in house production plant to be self-sufficient on gas, further reducing our carbon footprint.
  • Aiming for Solar panels by 2030
